In March 2026, .IE, Ireland’s national domain registry, launched the Digital Trust Mark: a voluntary scheme that lets businesses show customers their website, email and domain meet recognised security standards.
How it works
- You complete an assessment at digitaltrust.ie.
- It runs 28 tests across three areas: domain, website and email.
- Results come back within about one business day.
- With an A rating you can display the Mark for 12 months.
- It is open to .ie, .com and other domains.
What usually holds businesses back
In our experience the same few items come up: missing or weak DMARC, no DKIM, a website not forcing HTTPS, and no DNSSEC on the domain. All of them are fixable.
Is it worth it?
The Mark is a visible signal to customers that your emails and website can be trusted, at a time when phishing and fake invoices are rising. Even if you never display it, passing the tests means your business is much harder to impersonate.
Digital Trust Ireland is an independent business and not part of .IE. We help you fix the items the assessment checks. See how we help.
